Batteries are complex non linear electrochemical systems. Given the foreseen demand for lithium ion batteries for next years, it is important to better comprehend the processes determining the transport phenomena happening inside, since they are related to performance as well as aging. Diffusion coefficients are usually estimated using time-consuming and expensive experiments. This paper presents the two main approaches for the derivation of the diffusion coefficients and presents a fast methodology to estimate the diffusion coefficient of lithium using only signal processing. |
