By mathematical sciences, we would understand here a broad spectrum of knowledge that encompasses pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, mathematics of OR, computational mathematics, mathematical physics, mathematical biology, mathematical economics, etc. One aims in this talk to take a relook at the road to mathematical sciences traveresed in India since antiquity, with a view to try to gain an understanding about the current status of this domain in modern times. |
