Abstract:
A cost-efficient, eco-friendly and simple method was adopted to synthesize cobalt oxide/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanocomposite (NC). To simultaneously synthesize rGO and grow cobalt oxide on it, an extract of Eupatorium glandulosum Kunth has been used. Morphological analysis of the synthesized materials was conducted using field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. For the functional group analysis, attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy has been used. The structural characteristics of the materials were analysed with Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy determined the oxidation state of cobalt oxide in the NC. Finally, the electrochemical property of the NC was studied using Tafel and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
